Here’s a quick update on my most fulfilling pastime in the last few weeks. I’ve been regular with watering the plants and much to my astonishment, they’re actually doing well. Sure, some of them took a while to start showing new growth, but it’s happening.

  • The ZZ is living up to it’s reputation of being a low effort plant. There are a bunch of fresh new shoots.
  • The Spider Grass is producing an impossible amount of plantlets (DM me if you want some, I really am running out of pots trying to give them new homes and I really don’t want to just throw away the plantlets).
  • The Strelitzia has still never flowered in the last one year but is consistently producing new leaves.
  • The Fiddle-leaf Fig is alive, and I am thankful for that. I’m just going to focus on keeping it alive for the next few months. I will then give it some seaweed fertiliser when it gets a little warmer.
  • This random succulent whose name I don’t know is absolutely thriving under the intentional neglect. I think it will be furious if I try to water it. The string of pearls finally has some new growth! I had absolutely given up on this one but there are a few new young ones and they really made my day when I noticed them.
  • The Philodendron Kerala Hybrid was always living it up, and still is. I wiped the leaves clean so they’re really glossy now. It also
  • The recently propagated and re-potted Montsera has a new leaf and she’s looking healthy. I’m still waiting for some fenestrations to show up on the older leaves though.
  • The mini Montsera in my room is dead, big whoop.
  • The variegated pothos in my room is showing steady growth. I’ve even started propagating it, and it’s fascinating to watch the new roots show up.
