Loving Bangalore’s ghaas-poos scene.

Since I’m sitting at home all day alone with my thoughts now (courtesy the covid variant), I might as well resume with these weeknotes.

  • I moved to Bangalore. It’s been a month. Sometimes I feel so cold I can’t get myself to put my eye drops because then my eyes will also feel cold.
  • I’ve restarted with Couch to 5K. I couldn’t even get through day 1 when I tried. Last month at this time I was on week 4 or something. Struggling, yes, but it must be done. Other than that, I went on the longest walk I’ve ever been on and it turned out to be quite meditative.
  • We’ve gone back to being remote. I loved going to the office in the last 1–2 weeks and I am once again figuring out how I can continue to engage with people in the office when sitting in my own house. One good thing to come out of it is that I am finally spending time in my new home and setting things up. It’s fun. I’ve also started doing some basic cooking.
  • I binge-watched Arcane on Saturday. Big fan. I loved how there were no good or bad characters, no villains, nothing. And the animation! So slick! What a treat! I’ve been listing to the soundtracks all morning.
  • I finished reading The Tombs of Atuan, and to quote my own goodreads review —
“The narrative feels a little sluggish since there isn’t an immediate plot that it is anchored on, just descriptions to begin with. But what I love so much about this series is how well the characters are written. Seeing them challenge their own beliefs, resolve inner conflict, struggle with change and regret, is all very cathartic.”
I learned a new word while reading other reviews. Apparently the book is a “Bildungsroman”, which is somewhat like a “coming-of-age” but more specific to the growth and learnings of a character, and how their worldview shifts as they enter adulthood (coming-of-age stories can be any stories about growing up in any genre). I think I’d like to read more of these. The conflicts seem very relatable and real.
  • I also finished Queenie. It was a slightly stressful read but I liked how it ended.
