Week 17

I know, I know, it’s been a hot second.

A lot is happening so when I get free time I prefer to nap or read, rather than write.

  • I finally completed the Remembrance of Earth’s Past trilogy. It certainly left my brain bigger. Very cool themes, very well paced, absolutely unputdownable through and through. I do have issue with the book though, and that is the lack of women in the book. Yes, I know the protagonist in the final book was a women but was she really the protagonist? It seemed like things just happened to her and every time she took a certain universe-altering decision she was mistaken. The entire book treated kindness and compassion as a weakness. It treated the era where feminine traits were celebrated as delusional. And that sucked.
  • Now that I’m done with that book, it’s time to pick up a non-fic and I’m already rolling my eyes at myself. Why do I like to make my own life more difficult?
  • My life is about to change. More on that next week (if I ever return hah).
  • My mother made hummus and it’s magical.
  • I have not worked out in weeks.
  • I’m not listening to any cool music lately.
  • I watched Black Widow this weekend and it was eh. My mother pointed out that Hollywood movies seem to get a kick out of showing little girls lose their agency and get trained to become femme fatales/killers/assassins. It’s actually sickening if I think about it. Look up child assassin movies and they’re all little girls. I really want to watch Shang-chi.
  • I painted a single bunch of flowers with gouache. It wasn’t great but I’m pretty sure the next one will be.
  • I’ve had a lot of really minor inconveniences in life which are all piling up… no I’m done oversharing.

Apologies for spelling errors or convoluted sentences, I couldn’t be bothered to re-read what I’ve written.
